At Sweetwater, I dove into back-end development and learned how to write server-side code and database queries. This experience gave me insight into how websites and web applications work under the hood.
School Website Toolbox. In the pre-CSS and pre-CMS days, ensuring website consistency across a large decentralized district was no easy task. I have to confess, I leaned heavily on HTML frames here.
Student Explorer. The district's student information system used a classic command line interface, and outside of front office staff, was largely inaccessible to teachers. I developed the back-end and the front-end of the Student Explorer application, which was an incredible learning experience.
Professional Development System. I developed two other web applications for the district. One allowed HR to track substitute teacher scheduling, and the one pictured above gave the Professional Development department the ability to offer online registration for training classes, and to manage and track attendance at trainings.
